Constructed using our triple retention system it ensures that the friction material can be relied upon, even in the harshest environments. The latest materials now include bedding in coatings to help ensure immediate braking performance*. Using state of the art production facilities, accredited to OEM approval procedures and quality systems, Intelligent Braking brake pads are engineered to exacting standards. Our NEW Standard IB701 and Stage 2 IB705 materials have been benchmarked against leading Original Equipment materials and have been proven to perform to similar levels. 1. Mechanical Retention |
|
An integral steel mesh, stud welded to the backing plate, through and around which the friction material flows. When the friction material is cured the mechanical shear strength is greatly enhanced. |

2. Adhesive Retention |
|
|
The backing plate (and the steel mesh) is coated with thermo-setting phenolic adhesive. This delivers the standard industry bond for the friction material to the backing plate. Strong resistant to thermal stress. |

3. Formulated Retention |
|
The best compound for brake performance may not be the best compound for bonding. In order to ensure perfect bond conditions we insert an “interlayer” of material specifically formulated for bonding between the backing plate and the main friction material block. During moulding and curing this interlayer flows and fuses organically into the main friction block and adheres perfectly to the backing plate and steel mesh. The resulting final bond is fully secure. |

4. Bedding in Coating |
|
To help aid the bedding in process and to provide good initial performance all our NEW Standard (IB701) and NEW Stage 2 (IB705) brake pads for Heavy Commercial applications will be supplied with bedding in coating. |

Testing Protocol
The life cycle indicative wear test is the most stringent dynamometer test available for Commercial Vehicle Brake Pads and Brake Discs. Using variable speeds & temperatures, nothing comes close to the severity of this
fatigue analysis.
With almost 5000 braking cycles performed over 8 days of continuous testing, only the most durable materials are capable of passing this test.
IB701 & IB705 have proven to surpass this rigorous testing which was performed on OEM wheel-ends to simulate the real world high inertia demands experienced on today's highways.
